Real Neovim, in your browser. Nothing to install.
Learn Vim in
real Neovim.
Short lessons, then drills in the real editor, graded on what you do: reach the goal, then see how few keys it could have taken. Spaced repetition brings every skill back before you forget it. From your first :q! to a black belt.

How it works
Read a little. Do it for real. Keep it.
Learn
Five-minute lessons: predict what the keys do before the answer shows, or watch it happen key by key in the editor.
Do
Drills in real Neovim with a goal, never a list of keys to press. Solve it any way you like; the grade is the result and how efficiently you got there.
Remember
The course schedules each skill to come back just before you would forget it, in new contexts, until it is automatic.
The path
Four belts. Each one earned, none of them given.
White belt
- Survival: modes and inserting text
- Motions to automaticity
- The grammar reveal
- Counts and operator algebra
Green belt
- Text objects: the second half of the grammar
- The Dot Formula: repeat the last change
- Search as motion: find it, then act
- Registers: more than one clipboard
Brown belt
- Visual mode, deliberately late
- Macros: record once, replay
- Ex commands and ranges
- Windows and buffers
- Folds
Black belt
- Configuring Neovim in Lua
- User commands and autocommands
- Plugins and LSP, the ecosystem
- Free play: real refactors
A belt is the level's checkpoint, passed: mixed drills from the whole level, no hints, graded on mastery. Verified certificates are coming with accounts: your keystrokes replayed on our servers in the same Neovim, a page you can link from LinkedIn, and nothing anyone can fake.
In the dojo today
Everything is built around doing, not reading.
Watch it
Any lesson example, played key by key in the real editor.
Hints that teach
First the idea, then the key, then a solution. A hinted solve earns no credit.
Speed runs
Skills you have earned, against the clock. Keep a best time.
Blind mode
See the start, then finish from memory. Proves you know it.
Stats
Mastery per skill; keys over par and time to first key, day by day.
Keyboard first
j and k between lesson steps, / to search the reference, Ctrl K to jump anywhere.
Coming soon: accounts and sync across devices, verified certificates, a daily challenge with a share card, and battles against friends.
Why this and not…
The editor you will use tomorrow, not an imitation of it.

FAQ
Questions people ask first.
Is it really Neovim?
Yes: Neovim 0.11, compiled to WebAssembly, running in a worker in your browser. The drills read its real state to grade you.
Do I need to install anything?
No. A modern desktop browser is enough. It also works offline once loaded.
I already know some Vim.
Take a checkpoint first: pass it and the course skips what you know.
My keyboard is not US English.
The editor gets the characters your layout types. Browser shortcuts like Ctrl+W are kept by the browser, so Alt+W stands in for window commands.
What happens to my data?
Today it stays in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. No tracking cookies, no ads.
Vim or Neovim?
The editing skills are the same in both. The config units use Neovim’s Lua.
